eToll

eToll is an integrated national method of collecting tolls automatically using an electronic tag mounted to your vehicle windscreen.

eToll enables motorists to travel on Irish toll roads without needing to stop and pay at toll plazas.  It also means that once you’ve registered with a tag provider, your tag will give you access to every toll road in the country.

Why Get a Tag?

Electronic tags provide a smoother, faster and more fuel-efficient journey. Cars, jeeps, or small vans can use the express lane on every toll road in Ireland. Tags ensure you:

  • Avoid fuel-guzzling and time-consuming toll booth traffic
  • Never worry about having the correct change to pay for tolls again
  • Do not have the hassle of next-day payment deadlines on Dublin's M50
  • Can choose between pre-paid and post-paid account options
  • Benefit from reduced toll rates on certain toll roads

Electronic tolling uses a small electronic tag, which is placed in the vehicle and is detected each time the vehicle passes through the plaza. The toll is then debited from the customer's account. The electronic tolling system will automatically recognise the correct toll for the class of vehicle you are driving.
